Toroslar EDAŞ Invests TL 27 Million in Iskenderun and Payas Districts in Hatay

  • Toroslar EDAŞ has launched the ‘Iskenderun-Payas Ring Grid Project’, which amounts to TL 27 million and has the goal to provide uninterrupted and sustainable energy to Hatay.

Toroslar Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. (Toroslar EDAŞ) continues to achieve giant investments in the grid infrastructure of Hatay with its projects carried out in Iskenderun and Payas districts.

With the goal to increase the energy supply security of the region and install alternative lines via the ring grid connections with the investment to be carried out between Iskenderun and Payas districts in Hatay, Toroslar EDAŞ plans to replace the grid in the region, considering the future energy demand.

Toroslar EDAŞ has the purpose of enabling access of local residents to higher quality and uninterrupted energy by moving the HV overhead lines underground between Payas Substation (TM) and Sarıseki Distribution Center (DM). The investment works will be completed by November 2022.

  • 60,000 meters of underground cables to be used

Replacing the HV overhead grid line between Payas Substation and Sarıseki Distribution Centers with the underground lines, Toroslar EDAŞ established new substations in order to prevent the distribution grid to be affected by adverse weather conditions.

Planning to move the existing overhead grid underground during the road construction works to be carried out between Iskenderun and Payas districts by the Directorate General of Highways, the company will improve the supply continuity by creating alternative lines between the substations and distribution centers that meet the energy demand of the region.

As part of the project, Toroslar EDAŞ will install 2770-meter long line between Payas Substation and Oysa Distribution Center, 2397-meter long line between Oysa Distribution Center and Ibni Sina Distribution Center, 1527-meter long line between Ibni Sina Distribution Center and Iskenderun Substation, and 3543-meter long line between Ibni Sina Distribution Center and Sarıseki Distribution Center, which amounts to 10,250-meter long HV cable to move the overhead line underground.

Toroslar EDAŞ will dismantle approximately 10,000-meter long overhead HV lines and 32 HV poles carrying the overhead lines in the region, and will also be preventing moisture-induced outages on the overhead lines by moving them underground.

Planning to construct a distribution center in two designated locations and to get two new lines from Iskenderun 2 TEIAŞ Substation, Toroslar EDAŞ will increase the ring grid alternatives and minimize the power outages during the works to be carried out in the region.

  • Scheduled outages to be announced 48 hours in advance

In electricity distribution infrastructure investments, power cuts are scheduled in advance by Toroslar EDAŞ for the safety of field workers. To avoid any adverse impact on customers, these scheduled outages are announced on the website of Toroslar EDAŞ 48 hours in advance. On the other hand, users can also access these announcements as well as information on the existing and future scheduled outages through Toroslar EDAŞ Mobile 186 application and 186 Call Centre.
