Energy provided to tent cities in Gaziantep

Toroslar EDAŞ completed the repairing works last week for the faults occurred in Gaziantep due to the earthquakes and continues its operations to supply energy to tent cities established. All street and city lightings in Gaziantep are now in operation.

Toroslar Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. (Toroslar EDAŞ) supplied energy to tent cities established following the earthquakes, once all the repairing works for the power cuts occurred in Gaziantep because of the earthquakes were completed last week.

Toroslar EDAŞ completed the fault detection and repair works in Gaziantep, where is within the operation area of the company, as part of the disaster plans put into operation immediately following the earthquakes, and provided the required energy for search and rescue activities. Toroslar EDAŞ also supplied energy to the tent cities established for the citizens who lost or could not enter their homes due to the earthquakes.

Thus, the company met the energy demand required for urgent needs such as lighting and heating, in tent or container cities established for citizens in districts, such as Nurdağı and İslahiye, where people were affected from the earthquakes the most.

On the other hand, Toroslar EDAŞ met all urgent requirements, i.e., transformers, poles, conductors, lighting fixtures, field distribution boxes and panels, immediately; thus, the company can also meet the demands for new tent and container cities to be built in line with the coordination established with the relevant institutions.

Energy provided for 5,428 tents in 93 tent cities

Meeting the heating and lighting requirements of more than 5,428 tents in 93 tent cities of various sizes, established at several points within the city, using generators, if required, the company continues to receive energy demands for new tent cities.

Toroslar EDAŞ continues its activities with 3,167 field employees at conditions quite above the normal working conditions in the region, together with the support teams of Başkent EDAŞ and Ayedaş, as well as other electricity distribution companies and contractor companies.

In the field, 107 trucks, 198 basket-platform boom vehicles, 969 pick-ups and 2,472 generators of various sizes with a total capacity of approximately 41,000 kilowatts are in use.
